Castle (Revisited)

I was dissatisfied with the skewy castle.  Straightened up the lines and colored digitally.

Housing in Dusk Hollow

Some of the houses hang from the cliffs tenuously, like bats from cave walls.  Some are dug directly into the stone, with vertical shafts for light and air.

Little Dungeon(s)

If you want a cool little dungeon to explore when trekking across the Crystal Mesa, you need to visit the Hall of the Crystal Giant.  Dowler's blog was definitely an inspiration for this one.  The other ones are cool too...just this one fit with what's going on here.

Castle

A castle in the Dusk Hollows.  Gotta start using a straight edge for sketches, as this one is pretty skewed.  Started off as just a building but only had strange round windows and so I imagine that dragons fly in an out of those as access.

Method Behind The Madness

So, basically, I'm taking random picks from tables and then drawing them.  The biggest reason is for the challege of drawing something from random words.  Another is laziness.  So, I pick places and creatures from these tables (and there are a good many other tables as well) and then sketch them.

 


The reason I originally made these lists is for a game I was designing called Epic Geared which was just something for me and my son to play with to casually recreate World of Warcraft on the tabletop.  There was a whole realm generator in the design and using charts like above you could get a random draw like below.  Of course with anything random, you are bound to get some silly results.  Dead Grave?  Really?  A Chill Goblin in the same region as a Fire Zombie?  But, that's kinda fun too.  And some of the results are quite evocative.  What is a Dusk Hollow?  Sounds cool to me...
